Regional Program for Knowledge Co-creation on Disaster Health Management in ASEAN and Japan

Introduction: Knowledge management on Disaster Health Management (DHM) is one of the priority areas in Plan Action to implement ASEAN Leaders’ Declaration DHM (POA/ ALD DHM) (2019-2025). The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) has been implementing Project for Strengthening Regional Capacity (ARCH Project) since 2016 assist region strengthening coordination capacity DHM. A regional training course member states (AMS) was proposed be implemented 2022 as a JICA’s Co-creation Program (KCCP). Method: curriculum KCCP included emergency and disaster medicine Japan, international trends DHM, underwent reviews by AMS representatives ARCH Project. Prior training, participants were required prepare country reports (CRs) outlining information legislation, system structure related medicine, well systems receive medical teams (I-EMTs). Results: four-week contained trial implementation four-day program receiving I-EMTs among stakeholders response, based standard developed Project, invited experts not only from but also instructors. Participants analyzed identified challenges their countries, draft action plans (APs) improve situation through knowledge obtained program. Conclusion: APs, deliverables, will shared with used build support mechanism achieve national level targets POA/ progress reflected CR subsequent year. expected facilitate sharing contribute fostering culture mutual learning.
